It is one of the very first cast iron grinders produced. Stands about 12.5 high, on its original oak wood mount.

Original black cast iron body, with ornate decal motif. Some are brighter than others, some have faded through time and use, but still lovely, and original.

Top swings open to load beans. The body also opens to remove and clean the grinding plates. They are stamped April 13, 1873, and are in fine, working condition. There is a screw on the side to somewhat control the fineness of the grind. It grinds to a medium fineness easily, and very smoothly.

Original cast iron drawer with porcelain knob. Grinder has no cracks or repairs that I see.
