Antique National Specialty #5 Coffee Grinder Mill. Immaculately Restored

Antique National Specialty #5 Coffee Grinder. This is a very early National Specialty grinder and one of the rarest grinders that you will ever find. I have fully restored this grinder to as it was made over 100 years ago. They were the only company to have this style grinder body with the 8 sided hopper. This grinder was actually in very good condition but most of the original paint and decals were barely visible but still good enough to replicate everything as it was.

I totally striped all of the old lead paint that was left and then primed and painted it in it's original colors. The gold lettering and the intricate gold design on the body was all painted by my daughter who is also an artist The grinding gears were in excellent shape and there are no cracks or breaks on the grinder at all. The only parts that are not original to the grinder are the drawer front which was missing so I made a new front and soldered it on like the original. The rest of the drawer was in great condition.

I also had to make a new wood base. The adjustment screw was also not original so I ordered a cast iron star knob from England and recreated an adjustment screw like the original. Even the wood handles are original on this grinder. The wheels on the grinder turn silky smooth and true and would be perfect to grind coffee again. I only restore grinders that are in need of restoration and always make sure to do all of the paint, decals, and all of the decoration as was done when they were new. If you are looking for a coffee grinder to add to your collection for display or to actually use again, then this would be the one for you to get. This is the only the second #5 National Specialty grinder that I have seen.
