Large shop counter Antique Peugeot A2 Cast Iron Coffee Grinder c1900s
Antique Peugeot A2 Cast Iron Coffee Grinder dating from c1900s. This is a large shop coffee grinder complete with original wood draw.
The grinder has a burnished black grate polish finish. This front cover is long since gone this does not detract from it's beauty, the cover was often removed to make it quicker to refill while grinding; part of it's history and charm.
The grinder still has it's adjust clip to adjust the grind and it is currently set on a medium grind and is working on this setting. I have not tried to adjust the grind setting so cannot confirm if it will grind finer. See pictures 12 showing ground coffee in the draw. The handle is complete with no cracks.
The draw has woodworm holes mainly in the base towards front as per photos 9/10 these appear very old and historical and the worm long since gone. There are just 1 or 2 historical minor holes in the draw sides, I cannot see any visible on the front face of the draw. The draw has been repainted on the front in a cream colour this was a very long time ago and it now has a beautiful patina of aged paintwork, with the remnants of the original worn green paintwork showing through pic 11 The draw sides and interior are very brown from coffee as you would expect from over 100yrs of use. The knob handle is securly fixed it appears to be have been secured with a screw with a washer on the inside of the draw in a later stage of it's life. This is a stunning statement piece still in working order and would make a be real impact piece in a home or commercial setting.
