1886 New Model Antique Coffee Grinder
This is a very nice cast iron coffee mill manufacturedby New Union Manufacturing Company in Freeport, Illinois. The patent was obtained by Edward and Charles Morgan on a coffee mill consisting of a main hopper and grinder shell in which operated the cone-shaped grinding shaft. While few real claims were made beyond that, nevertheless, the general design, with wooden-faced metal drawer and the open housing of the drawer, made the mill unique according to "The Macmillan Index of Antique Coffee Mills". According to the Morgan brothers, the first New Model made was the one that had only the words "New Model" embossed in a curve at the base of the hopper, so this is an old coffee mill.
This cast iron coffee grinder is in great condition, totally functional, no repairs. Shows only normal usage wear.
The grinder is marked "New Model" in a curve on the base and PTD. July 20'86 on the cast iron hopper. The item "1886 New Model Antique Coffee Grinder" is in sale since Wednesday, February 26, 2020.
