The wheel turns freely, and there are no chips or cracks to the cast! It appears that originally it was painted black, but most of that has worn off the body, but is still quite nice on the wheel.

The handle on the wheel is very tight with no cracks or chips in the wood. Look closely at the pictures as they are the cosmetic description!
