Antique COFFEE OR SUGAR GRINDER Primitive Spice Civil War Era Country Store AAFA. One of my favorite pieces: Incredible 19th century travel size coffee or sugar grinder with sliding lid and a drawer. Case is two pieces carved out for grinding mechanism then held together by applied bottom board and iron crossbar (separation seen on back, pic 4, not cracked this is how it was made). Patina is off the charts, sodden with crystalized oils or sugars on sides of case, bottom of lid and bottom of drawer.

Uncertain whether the wood drawer pull is original or not. There's an area just above the pull that has been indented (see pic 11) probably finger worn. Wonderful, unusual, grungy and awesome beyond words. Wood appears to be Southern Yellow Pine with turned Maple handle.

It measures approx 8"H x 6.5"L x 3.5W. Lots of period wear from use including minor loss to bottom corner (pic 19) and the lid's finger pull basically wore off (pic 22). Ne of a kind treasure.
