Antique German Coffee Grinder with Embossed Brass Floral Decoration

We find no makers mark or plate on this grinder however there are two small brads present on the front which once held such a plate. We are not able to identify the maker from other features of the grinder though it does appear to be German. These certainly make the piece unique.

Based on box construction and mechanism, we would estimate this is made before or near the start of WWI. 9 1/4 inches base to top of crank handle, box is 4 1/2 inches high by 5 1/2 inches square on the top plate with the base slightly smaller at 4 3/4 inches square. Nice patina to the wood with the box and drawer of dovetail construction. A wonderful, unique addition to any collection or simply as a single elegant example of a hand-crank grinder.
