The well appears to be an alloy metal and the handle and grinding mechanism looks like painted steel. The the screws are single slots and box is beveled on all four corners. The drawer is bevel slotted to fit and has a tiny Character nic of the top right corner that has its own Patina from age. The right rear lower corner darkened as if stained by cooking oil and again adds character.
This piece was found at a private sale near Gravelotte, France and should be a decorative piece. Professionally packed and insured from the USA.
