ANTIQUE vintage PEUGEOT COFFEE GRINDER No1 french mid 19c coffee house culture

FOR SALE HERE is one french PEUGEOT FRERES cast iron grain grinder more normally used for grinding coffee from year 1855 onwards. This grinder grinds coarsely but I shall try to adjust for a finer grind. This is No1 edition, NUMBER 0 being from that date. Cast within the moulding are the words, PEUGEOT FRERES BREVETES S. And the letter A (within a circle) on two corners and the the aforementioned 1 within a circle in the two other corners (see pics) This model grinder was used in shops or large households so the size is stunningly large and sculptural.

A big statement in INDUSTRIAL DESIGN! Overall height including handle raised : 36cm. Overall width including handle : 36cm WEIGHT unpacked is 7kg. Even the drawer has its original green colour visible even if worn away in parts and the knob on the drawer is original with a part missing but still firm to use. This is the way some people like it; where evidence of coffee being ground over 150 years can connect to you!
