Working Peugeot Freres Antique Coffee Grinder with Drawer

Before Peugot made cars, they made superb coffee grinders. Peugot's original coffee mills were manufactured so well that many are still in working condition-- their durability largely due to the high quality steel they used. The wood is very fine grained and its surfaces are worn smooth and glossy from about a century of use. The top swivels open for you to pour in your coffee beans; the steel crank with its hardwood knob rotates and grinds the steel mill with a bit of effort; and the ground coffee is deposited into the drawer.

The drawer is held securely shut during the cranking process by two springs on either side. An embossed brass plaque on the face shows a lion over an arrow and the words: Peugeot Freres, Moulee Depose, Valentigney DOUBS. Condition: Very good, with a gorgeous old patina.

The underside of the base has some roughened wood (shown), but the mill and all its parts are structurally sound and should serve well. To top of box: 5" to top of handle knob: 9.25" box lid: 6" x 6" weighs 2.7 lbs.
